Most modern software is built to keep you, and to keep your attention, your data and your monthly payment. We think there's a better deal, where the tools you use are yours, run where you can see them and stay out of the way.

We started by building individual apps, each solving one problem. Along the way, the real problem got clearer. Every app needed the same things: a safe way to install it, update it on your terms, fix it when it breaks and keep your data in your hands. So we stopped building them one by one.

Aviary is now the one application that does all of that for every other application. Install what you need, keep every version, report problems, ask for changes, and know the result is yours. The apps we've built, Raven, Sparrow, Plover and Dove, are the first examples of what lives inside it.

Alongside it, Aviary Hosting runs the servers and services that applications and their communities depend on. It starts with Minecraft servers and will grow to websites, more kinds of games and the services you build yourself.
